Don Ballance and Ralph Messana back at NewTek
By Tim Dunn
January 7, 2006
January 6, 2006 - NewTek is pleased to announce that Don Ballance and Ralph
Messana have rejoined the company. Don and Ralph have spent the last two years
developing and promoting the 3D Arsenal suite of software tools, a companion
to LightWave 3D. 3D Arsenal is designed to make the creation of motion graphics
quick and easy for video producers and editors not already versed in 3D animation.
The software suite comes with interactive training materials and over 750
scenes to use as templates for the creation of incredible 3D Video Effects
and Logo Animations. NewTek has acquired all the rights and ownership of the
3D Arsenal software and content to add to the NewTek 3D line. As members of
the NewTek staff, Don and Ralph will assist in the management and further
development of 3D Arsenal and additional 3D related products.
One of Don and Ralph's first responsibilities will be to join other NewTek
staff members on a pre-NAB promotional tour featuring the full line of NewTek
products: VT[4], TriCaster, LightWave 3D v9 and 3D Arsenal. Tour details with
dates and locations will follow shortly.
NAB 2003 Las Vegas!

For those of you that didn't attend the last two parties at NAB, Lisa won
a Lightwave 7 last year.

Right foreground is Faraz with Gary Francis learning some tips. Gary owns
Milestone Productions in Provo Utah.
2003 NAB was once again an exciting event, at least for those
of us here at Computer Wise. Naturally our number one stop this year was...
you guessed it, The NewTek Booth. We were happy to see many of you there and
we apologize for those of you we missed.. It was great to see the NewTek staff,
new and old amicable and supportive of one another. A big "Hey" goes out to
Don Balance and Ralph Manessa, it was great to see you both! We were a little
disappointed with the presentation part of the booth, but we were very impressed
with the demonstration areas inside the booth. There you could find any number
of Toaster experts, including, but not limited to, Paul Lara, Faraz, Ted Ruiz,
Aussie etc. The new VT3 is AWESOME! Click Here to see the VT3 Improvements.

Next on the agenda of important functions was the Video Toaster Party!! Thanks
to Ted Ruiz and others, this 2nd annual party was a great success. There were
a lot of attendees and we worried it wouldn't be so easy to win their cool
prizes... but various companies continued to donate prizes until the majority
of the attendees were winners. Our deepest sympathy goes to the few that were
not winners ie. Curt Wood, Chuck Stocking, Dave Chowen etc. But on a lighter
note... Congratulations to all you winners out there!

NAB 2002 Las Vegas!
Don Balance of NewTek, Inc., demonstrated his super VideoToaster prowess with the powerful nonlinear video editing of Video Toaster [2], combined with the enhancements of Aura 2, which provided multiple track audio and infinite layers of video, shown in real time. Rendering is once again a thing of the past. The drag and drop editing capabilities of the new VideoToaster took the breath away from both the neophyte and seasoned videographers and filmmakers. When the photo realistic capabilities of LightWave VT were added, it was evident that no current video/film editing system was comparable to the New VT Suite. The Video Toaster [2] has surpassed the competition, including the more expensive AVID systems.
Ted
Ruiz, Ron Gratreaks and Dick Van Dyke enjoying Lisa Wood's excitement at winning
LightWave 3D 7 (She is already off stage left)
Lisa &
Curt Wood along with Chuck Stocking attended a special event at
the MGM Grand billed as "Toast 2". Many of the names
associated with the Video Toaster and Lightwave were on hand for question
and answer as well as demonstration. Many new products were shown by Toaster
developers and many big showbiz names attended as well. Tim Jennison Don
Ballance and locals ,former video specialists from Computerwise Logan,
- Greg & Gary Griffeth provided the music for the evening and got
several standing ovations. And surprise surprise Lisa won one of the Grand
Prizes, a fresh copy of Lightwave 7 which was presented by non other than
Toaster User Dick Van Dyke - yup you heard it right. Lisa pressed Dick
for a kiss and an autograph on the front of her Lightwave. This is one event
no Toaster user should miss at NAB 2003. As you can tell we hope to see this
event next year!
